What We Do

There are over 130 distinct language groups in Myanmar, each with its own culture and history. Oftentimes, these ethnic minority communities are left out and forgotten, resulting in fewer educational and economic opportunities and a low quality of life.

LSDO strives to see all of these communities thriving, contributing to the growth and development of their individual communities as well as to the larger society. We partner with these language communities, using the linguistic and cultural resources they already have, to help them reach this end.

As such, our work is focused in language survey, literacy efforts, ethno-arts research and documentation, technical linguistic support, and other linguistic, educational, and development activities.
